The Twilight series...

...needs...

...to...

...DIE~!!!

I don't know whether or not I have said this already, but Stephenie Meyer cannot write! And neither can Melissa Rosenberg (screenwriter for both Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon).

The popularity of this franchise has opened my eyes to how naive (literature-wise) the American population is.

Seriously naive. It's borderline crisis!

A lot of my friends are on my side with this issue, and there are some of my friends who aren't. And I can tell you right now that the majority of my friends, and myself, read (and I mean really read) on a regular basis. We've read Homer, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, George Orwell, Edgar Allen Poe, etc., and liked it, and it changed the way we view writing and the world around us. We sat in English class and actively participated in the discussions because we were interested.

The friends who have read and like Twilight, on the other hand, did not even poke a book with a 20-foot pole until they suddenly found this bullshit story about an emo teenage girl being a total outcast and then, for absolutely no reason at all, falling in love with this creepy, sparkling, stalker guy with fangs who keeps saying "I could kill you, you know" and an impulse to EAT her!

And what does she say???

...

"I don't care! I still love you [even though I don't know why]!"

*faceplant*

Seriously. Being a psych major in college has taught me a lot, and I think Bella needs immediate counseling before she gets herself violently molested or killed!

On another note, even though it's a fantasy/horror/whatever story, it is so annoyingly unrealistic and completely ridiculously against vampire lore.

Let me count the ways:

-Edward is WHITE! And so that I'm not stating the obvious, let me say that he is DEATHLY white! Have none of the teachers turned him into the nurse to find out whether something was wrong with him?

-Vampires cannot go into sunlight because they sparkle, and it gives away their identity. =_= NO! Vampires, when exposed to sunlight, die a very painful and horrific death by igniting on impact and burning until they are naught but a pile of ashes. END OF STORY!

-"Vegetarian vampires". What...the...fuck?! I mean, excuse my language, but can you come up with a more inaccurate form of terminology for a vampire who feeds off animals? YOU EAT ANIMALS! YOU STILL EAT MEAT! YOU ARE NOT A VEGETARIAN!

(And, to reply to some lore inaccuracies in anti-Twilight disputes I've heard, vampires CAN feed off animals, and do not require ONLY human blood to drink. It's just not that tasty!)

And before the Twitards start bashing me for never reading the books, let me tell you this: I know enough from people who have read the books, I have watched the movie (gods save my soul), and I tried to read Twilight, but gave up somewhere within the first three pages because the quality of the writing (or lack-thereof, rather) gave me a headache, and I didn't want to cause further damage to my cranium.

So there you go! I dislike Twilight with a passion, and I have legitimate reason to!
